go Natural hazards and disasters are on the rise globally, and the impacts are becoming more severe and widespread. Disasters have caused extensive economic losses hindering development goals; depletion of built and natural environments; reduction in the quality of life and loss of lives in vulnerable communities. What has become apparent is the importance of resilience – not only in the structures that are designed and built, but in the way society perceives, copes with, and reshapes lives after disasters. Planning and management demands improved use of change to better cope with the unexpected. It is important to understand the nature of natural hazards and disasters to be able to develop strategies to prepare for events and plan effective responses. Resilience has been brought to the fore, resilient capacities need to be built across the board, to reduce risks and vulnerabilities.

go We welcome submission of abstracts for consideration for oral or poster presentations. Papers on a broad range of topics related to Building Resilience are invited.
Each submission is to be completed on the submission template provided and requests a title (up to 10 words) and abstract. Please compose these carefully as they will be uploaded onto the conference website prior to the start of the conference.
All submitter’s will receive an email confirming the outcome of their submission. We reserve the right to discuss your submission with you as part of the process of assembling the programme, and may accept your proposal under a different category, for example accepting an oral presentation as a poster.

Final paper submissions close on Monday 6th June at 5pm. After this time the review process will commence, authors will be notified of the source link blind peer review outcomes in June 2016.
Papers must be submitted using the Final Paper Template and must contain a title however no authors should be mentioned in order to ensure the review process is double blind.
If the paper is accepted with no revisions required, author(s) will be invited to present the paper at the conference and have it included in the conference proceedings. Authors will be asked to upload the final version of their paper with reference to authors.
If the paper is accepted with revisions, author(s) will have to address reviewers’ comments and resubmit the full paper within 2 weeks. If the final paper is accepted, author(s) will be invited to present the paper at the conference and have it included in the conference proceedings. Authors will be asked to upload the final version of their paper with reference to authors.
It is a condition that at least one of the authors has a paid conference registration.
By submitting a paper you consent to its subsequent publication worldwide in print or electronic media as part of the Conference Proceedings and as part of any subsequently published collections of Conference Papers.
